Since Bayonetta 3 is still far, far away, Nintendo thought it would be a good idea to bring the first two Bayonetta games to their shiny new Nintendo Switch, who can blame them? In this review, we’ll focus on the port of Bayonetta 1, which basically is the same port we got on our Wii U systems.īayonetta was originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as one of Platinum Games’ most loved hack ‘n slash games. ![]() Once they do so successfully, they should have enough slowed-down time to break the door and get to the other side before it reforms. ![]() When the button prompt is pressed again, the statues will call down a lightning bolt on Bayonetta's position, and players will need to dodge at the last second to activate Witch Time. Walk up to one and use the button prompt to lift them into the air with one of Bayonetta's other signature moves, then run back to the door. However unlike the previous chapter, this door will reconstitute itself very quickly, much too fast for them to get through, so they'll need to activate Witch Time to give them the chance.įrom the door, players need to turn around and proceed down the street until they find two crystalline statues at the other end. In Chapter 2 of Bayonetta, players will encounter a door much like one they encountered in the previous chapter, one made of golden bricks where they'll need to unleash a combo to momentarily break apart. Even time itself is a plaything to Bayonetta, and the window of opportunity for activation of this ability is quite generous, but failing to take advantage of it results in damage, so remain vigilant. Once players dodge, the screen will attain a purple tint as the slowed-down sound of a ticking clock will echo in the background, signalling that they've got a few precious seconds of Witch Time to do whatever they want. In order to activate Witch Time, players must use Bayonetta's dodge just before an enemy's attack lands. Players can activate Witch Time in order to slow time to a crawl, enabling them to get a quick combo against the hordes that seek to do them harm. In order to successfully navigate their way through it, players will sometimes have to make use of Witch Time in order to strategically jump along falling debris, walk on water, or get through puzzles with short time limits.Įarly on in Bayonetta, players will learn of Witch Time, one of the most important tools in Bayonetta's arsenal in her fight against the angels. But the obstacles in her way aren't always the many-faced or polearm-wielding variety, and are sometimes the environment itself. Over the course of her journey in the first Bayonetta, the titular protagonist fights her way through scores of angels, and makes it look easy the whole while. ![]()
